Metal Shed Installation in Newcastle
Handyman MultiFix completed this metal shed installation in Newcastle for a customer who needed practical garden storage on an existing paved area. The 8 × 6 ft shed arrived as a flat-packed kit with steel panels, rails, braces and a large number of fixings.
Project overview
Metal shed components can feel quite flexible before the frame connects them. We treated this as a two-person installation. One person held the longer panels in position while the other fixed them to the main frame.
Before starting, we laid out the components and checked the installation sequence. This made it easier to identify the base rails, corner sections, wall panels, roof supports and door parts before the structure began to take shape.

Metal shed installation in Newcastle
We assembled the base frame first on the existing paving. Once we established the footprint, we fitted the corner sections and added the wall panels in the correct order.
We installed the upper rails and internal braces as the walls progressed. These parts connect the individual panels and support the shed while we fitted the roof frame.
Next, we assembled the front and rear gable sections, positioned the roof supports and fitted the corrugated roof sheets. We checked each overlap before adding the edge trims and remaining fixings.

Final steps in our metal shed installation in Newcastle
The doors took more time than most other parts of the assembly. We fitted the door panels, checked their movement and adjusted the opening until they operated correctly.
After completing the main construction, we checked the accessible fixings and reviewed the structure. The finished dark grey shed provides covered garden storage and fits neatly into the available courtyard space.

Frequently asked questions
Can you assemble a flat-packed metal garden shed?
Yes. We can assemble flat-packed garden sheds, including the base frame, wall panels, roof sections, bracing and doors. The exact work depends on the shed model and the condition of the proposed base.
Does a metal shed need a prepared base?
You need a stable and reasonably level base before assembly. Depending on the manufacturer’s instructions, this may be an existing paved area, a concrete base or another suitable foundation.
